Although the ARM9 core has been out for some years it has taken time for a reasonable range of microcontrollers to become available. Only now is it possible to choose from a few different vendors.
These products all offer a lot of features:
Around 200 MIPS of performance
Mutli-ICE and MultiTrace support (ETM9 built in)
Typically 16K data + 16K instruction caches
Thumb support (industry-leading code density)
Peripherals, on-chip memory, etc.
ARM922T core
Up to a million gates of programmable logic for your use
Logic can be reprogrammed by the core 'on the fly'
Soft-loadable IP available for standard peripherals
Excellent for prototyping designs, or for lower-volume production
